LIGHTHOUSE FOR THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED

Client: Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Location: San Francisco

Architect: Mark Cavagnero Associates

Photography: Jasper Sanidad

PROJECT SCOPE:

Our team was engaged to consult with the architect on furniture selection for a facility serving the blind and visually impaired. The scope required thoughtful attention to accessibility, comfort, and durability, ensuring that every choice supported the unique needs of the client and their community.

We collaborated closely with the architect to recommend furniture that enhanced usability, wayfinding, and safety, while also creating a welcoming and professional environment. Considerations included tactile-friendly materials, stable forms to reduce tripping hazards, appropriate contrasts, and adaptable seating for diverse age groups and abilities.

Through this consultative process, we delivered a furniture package that not only complemented the interior architecture but also reinforced the client’s mission of inclusivity and accessibility.
